Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution~TGIF

The lastest spam email circulating:

You are one of my 20.

  An idea whose time has come.

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress.  Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they didn’t pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws.  The latest is to exempt themselves from the Healthcare Reform that is being considered…in all of its forms.  Somehow, that doesn’t seem logical.  We do not have an elite that is above the law.  I truly don’t care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever.  The self-serving must stop.  This is a good way to do that.  It is an idea whose time has come.

Have each person contact a minimum of Twenty people on their Address list, in turn ask each of those to do likewise..

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message.  This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

         Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States “.
 I call it SPAM for these points: Article V of the Constitution spells out the processes by which amendments can be proposed and ratified.To Propose Amendments

  • Two-thirds of both houses of Congress vote to propose an amendment, or

  • Two-thirds of the state legislatures ask Congress to call a national convention to propose amendments. (This method has never been used.)

 So who proposed this amendment and when?

 2.

 All members of Congress, the President and Vice President, Federal judges, and most political appointees, were covered under the Social Security program starting in January 1984. They pay into the system just like everyone else. Thus all members of Congress, no matter how long they have been in office, have been paying into the Social Security system since January 1984.

(Prior to this time, most Federal government workers and officials were participants in the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) which came into being in 1920–15 years before the Social Security system was formed. For this reason, historically, Federal employees were not participants in the Social Security system.) http://www.ssa.gov/history/hfaq.html

Many emails will circulate to stress people about health care reform. Don’t get suckered! Investigate before you circulate!!!

The Secret

The Secret
One day, one friend asked another,
‘How is it that you are always so happy?
You have so much energy,
And you never seem to get down.’

With her eyes smiling, she said,
‘I know the Secret!’
‘What secret is that?’
To which she replied,
‘I’ll tell you all about it,
But you have to promise to
Share the Secret with others.’

‘The Secret is this:
I have learned there is little I can do
In my life that will make me truly happy.
I must depend on God to make
Me happy and to meet my needs.
When a need arises in my life,
I have to trust God to supply
According to HIS riches.
I have learned most of the time
I don’t need half of what I think I do.
He has never let me down.
Since I learned that ‘Secret’, I am happy.’

The questioner’s first thought was,
‘That’s too simple!’
But upon reflecting over her own life
She recalled how she thought a bigger house
Would make her happy, but it didn’t!
She thought a better paying job
Would make her happy, but it hadn’t.
When did she realize her greatest happiness?
Sitting on the floor with her grandchildren,
Playing games, eating pizza or reading a story,
A simple gift from God.

Now you know it too!
We can’t depend on people to make us happy.
Only GOD in His infinite wisdom can do that.
Trust HIM!
And now I pass the Secret on to you!

YOU have to tell someone the Secret, too!
That GOD in His wisdom will take care of YOU!
But it’s not really a secret…
We just have to believe it and do it…
Really trust God!

Do your best; let God do the rest.

Today I pray your troubles be less,
May your blessings be more,
And May nothing but happiness
Come through your door!!
Amen

Dear CatholicVote Member,
http://paracom.paramountcommunication.com/ct/3912335:5790668662:m:1:120764877:E4974FC77AF896796AF721A1DAE75FDB

The anti-religion crusaders are at it again.

This time they want the Post Office to cancel a planned new stamp honoring Mother Teresa.

I am continually shocked by the persistence of these activist groups. They seem to never give up! Any mention or reference of God must be wiped out. The Pledge of Allegiance, In God We Trust, you name it… they want it boarded up, whitewashed, and banished from our public life.

But not this time. Not Mother Teresa.

Sign on to our group letter to the Postmaster General here – www.StampOutBigotry.com

A group called the Freedom from Religion Foundation is now spreading lies about Blessed Mother Teresa accusing this holy nun of having a ‘darker side,’ and calling her a ‘polarizing Roman Catholic figurehead.’

That’s why we decided to act swiftly and make sure this anti-Mother Teresa campaign doesn’t gain any more momentum.

The groups now protesting the new stamp never protested other stamps honoring Gandhi, or even Martin Luther King, Jr. who proudly understood his fight for civil rights to be rooted in his Christian faith.

What is plain is that these groups not only dislike Mother Teresa, they despise the Catholic Church. They simply cannot stomach the thought of the United States Postal Service honoring a Catholic nun who spoke out against abortion, contraception, and against the atheistic materialism of the west.

In her famous 1994 speech at the National Prayer Breakfast, Mother Teresa closed with these words:

“From here, a sign of care for the weakest of the weak – the unborn child – must go out to the world. If you become a burning light of justice and peace in the world, then really you will be true to what the founders of this country stood for. God bless you!”

Please send this to your friends and family too. We need to push back against this ugly campaign, and stand up for this holy nun and all that she lived for.

Mother Teresa stood up for the best of America’s ideals. Now it’s time we stand up for her.

Cute Letter to God

Cute email: If your dog could write a letter to God!

Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must remember to be a good dog.

1. I will not eat the cats’ food before they eat it or after they throw it up.

2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell..

3. The Litter Box is not a cookie jar.

4. The sofa is not a ‘face towel’.

5. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff..

6. I will not play tug-of-war with Dad’s underwear when he’s on the toilet.

7. Sticking my nose into someone’s crotch is an unacceptable way of saying ‘hello’.

8. I don’t need to suddenly stand straight up when I’m  under the coffee table .

9. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the house – not after.

10. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt.

11. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch.

12. The cat is not a ‘squeaky toy’ so when I play with him and he makes that noise, it’s usually not a good thing..

TGIF~Many Valentines

Nice email for Valentine”s:

(Both Men & Women, Sons & Daughters – need to read this)

BEING A MOTHER….

After 17 years of marriage, my wife wanted me to
take another woman out to dinner and a movie. She

said, ‘I love you, but I know this other woman loves
you and would love to spend some time with you.’
* * *
The other woman that my wife wanted me to visit
was my MOTHER, who has been alone for 20 years,
but the demands of my work and my two boys had
made it possible to visit her only occasionally.
* * *
That night I called to invite her to go out for
dinner and a movie.
* * *
‘What’s wrong, aren’t you well,’ she asked?
* * *
My mother is the type of woman who suspects that a
late night call or a surprise invitation is a sign
of bad news.
* * *
‘I thought it would be pleasant to spend some
time with you,’ I responded. ‘Just the two of us.’
She thought about it for a moment, and then said,
‘I would like that very much..’
* * *
That Friday after work, as I drove over to pick

her up I was a bit nervous.. When I arrived at her
house, I noticed that she, too, seemed to be nervous
about our date. She waited in the door. She had curled her hair and was wearing the
dress that she had worn to celebrate her last
birthday on November 19th.
* * *
She smiled from a face that was as radiant as an
angel’s. ‘I told my friends that I was going to go
out with my son, and they were impressed,’ she said,
as she got into that new white van. ‘They can’t wait to hear about our date’.
* * *
We went to a restaurant that, although not
elegant, was very nice and cozy. My mother took my
arm as if she were the First Lady. After we sat
down, I had to read the menu. Her eyes could only
read large print. Half way through the entries, I
lifted my eyes and saw Mom sitting there staring at
me. A nostalgic smile was on her lips. ‘It was I
who used to have to read the menu when you were
small,’ she said. ‘Then it’s time that you relax and
let me return the favor,’ I responded.
* * *
During the dinner, we had an agreeable

conversation- -nothing extraordinary but catching up
on recent events of each other’s life. We talked so
much that we missed the movie.
* * *
As we arrived at her house later, she said,
‘I’ll go out with you again, but only if you let me
invite you.’ I agreed.
* * *
‘How was your dinner date ?’
asked my wife when I got home.
‘Very nice. Much more so than I could have imagined,’

I answered.
* * *
A few days later, my mother died of a massive
heart attack. It happened so suddenly that I didn’t
have a chance to do anything for her.
* * *
Some time later, I received an envelope with a
copy of a restaurant receipt from the same place
mother and I had dined. An attached note said: ‘I
paid this bill in advance. I wasn’t sure that I
could be there; but nevertheless, I paid for two

plates – one for you and the other for your wife.
You will never know what that night meant for me.
I love you, son..’
* * *
At that moment, I understood the importance of
saying in time: ‘I LOVE YOU’ and to give our loved
ones the time that they deserve.. Nothing in life is
more important than your family. Give them the time
they deserve, because these things cannot be put off
till ‘some other time.’
* * *
Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back
to normal after you’ve had a baby….. somebody
doesn’t know that once you’re a mother,

‘normal’ is history.
* * *
Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by
instinct … somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.

* * *
Somebody said being a mother is boring ….
somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver’s permit.
Somebody said if you’re a’good’ mother,

your child will ‘turn out good’….

somebody thinks a child comes with
directions and a guarantee.
* * *
Somebody said you don’t need an education to be a
mother…. somebody never helped a fourth grader
with his math.
* * *
Somebody said you can’t love the second child as
much as you love the first …. somebody doesn’t
have two children.
* * *
Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother
is labor and delivery….

somebody never watched her ‘baby’ get on the bus

for the first day of kindergarten …
or on a plane headed for military ‘boot camp.’
* * *
Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her
child gets married….somebody doesn’t know that
marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a
mother’s heartstrings.
* * *
Somebody said a mother’s job is done when
her last child leaves home……

somebody never had grandchildren.
* * *
Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so
you don’t need to tell her….
somebody isn’t a mother..

Pass this along to all the ‘mothers’ in your life
and to everyone who ever had a mother. This isn’t
just about being a mother; it’s about appreciating
the people in your life while you have them….no
matter who that person is.

Change the World – Help Someone

Hey guys, I just wanted to say a big thank-you to all who participated in yesterday’s mission. We dropped a massive Love Bomb on this guy who’s going through a really tough time right now, and he posted an update today to show his appreciation for all the support. He also said that yesterday was his birthday, and he will never forget it. You can read his response here:
http://banzaibill.blogspot.com/2010/01/thank-you-all.html. (And if you want to add to the Love Bomb, you can still comment on his previous day’s post.)

This mission is a perfect example of the possibly life-changing difference we can make for people in need. I got SO many responses from all of you telling me how much you enjoyed the mission, and asking if we could make it a once-a-month thing. I agree, and I’ll definitely think about it and keep you posted.

I don’t usually send more than one email a week, but in this case I wanted you guys to see two things – things I get to see every week: 1) The huge number of people in this group who care about others and will go out of their way to help them, and 2) the results of the work we put into this project.

With that in mind, I want to let you know that I’ve been hard at work this week building our 2009 Year in Review eBook, which will be an awesome summary of some of the big things we accomplished last year. I’m putting the finishing touches on it this weekend, and next week I’ll send it out to each of you – many of you are quoted (without being named, of course), so look for yourself!

I am so proud of . . . Us.

Thanks,
Nate

p.s. If you know of anyone we can help with future missions like this, send me an email with “Love Bomb” in the subject line. I can’t guarantee a response, but I will look at them all.
